REC-001049 · campaign 10160 · published 2019-05-06 · 13876 units · more MITSUBISHI

The defect

The rivets for the side step cover may corrode and fracture, especially if usage involves exposure to salt or anti-freeze agent.

The hazard

If all of the rivets fracture, side step covers may drop off the vehicle, which can create a hazard for other road users. In addition, the step may be difficult for vehicle occupants to use.

What owners should do

Mitsubishi Motors Australia will write to all owners and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to have the vehicle rectified. Replacements of the side step rivets are free and can be performed at any Mitsubishi Motors Dealership regardless of the location the vehicle was purchased. Consumers who require further information can contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1800 931 811 or their preferred Dealer on 1300 131 211 (Option 2, Option 2) or go to https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/customer-assistance/locate-a-service-centre
