LAND ROVER DISCOVERY, DEFENDER 2020–2021 recall
REC-001630 · campaign N571 · published 2021-05-25 · 533 units · more LAND ROVER
The defect
The fixing nuts which connect the exhaust downpipe to the catalytic convertor may not have been tightened to specification. The fixings may loosen over time, which may cause a hot exhaust gas leak into the engine bay.
The hazard
If a hot exhaust gas leak occurs, this may cause localised heat damage and, if sustained, can lead to under bonnet smoke and a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk injury or death to vehicle occupants or bystanders.
