The defect
We have been advised that there is a possibility that the bond between the inner and outer lites (window pane panels) of the windows could have loosened due to UV exposure.
The hazard
If the outer lite (window pane panel) of a window became loose, this could present a possible hazard to other road users (falling panels).
What owners should do
To ensure safety, and as a preventative measure, Burstner GmbH and the window manufacturer Polyplastic BV of Rotterdam have decided to fix the outer and inner lites to one another mechanically. Initially, Burstner owners are advised that they must secure each window by means of a strong adhesive tape at the edge of the windows before embarking on the next trip.
